Why "global" marathon?Distance and Registration Fees:
Kennon Marathon is called "global" because it is envisioned to be a tribute to the 46 countries that helped construct Kennon Road.
Unknown to many, Kennon Road was built with the help of foreign workers from 46 different countries. It was the Americans who served as the taskmasters of this monumental project, but an estimated 4,000 foreign workers from various nationalities were the ones who toiled for three and a half years (July 1, 1901 to January 29, 1905) just to complete what was then known as the Benguet Road.
This road, eventually known as Kennon Road, opened Baguio to the world. It is also a monument to global partnership -- a proof that people of all creeds can unite under one purpose.
