Run United Regional Series 2011

I remember the times when I wished and hoped that someday, my hometowns Baguio and Masbate, would also get a chance to have a race event that is as grand as it is here in the Metro so that these Cities will be able to attract runners not just from the neighboring towns, but also from other regions. At the same time, it will be a good chance for these venues to attract tourists during any season and not just on their festival events (Panagbenga in Baguio, Rodeo in Masbate).

It seems that Unilab and RunRio Inc. heard my thoughts as they have filled their calendar with five (5) Regional races for this year - Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, Baguio and Cebu. Not only that, as Unilab will also be holding a TriAthlon and Biking event in Batangas on July 17, 2011 and October 21 and 23, 2011, respectively.

These races, as tied-up with the Department of Tourism, aims to promote Sports Tourism, specifically running to our Kababayans among the Provinces and Cities outside Metro Manila, and for them to also experience a RunRio-quality marked event.

The first Regional Race will be held in Davao as the Run United Series Davao on the 14th of August, 2011. The race aims to target 5,000+ registered runners, which will offer distances from 3K, 5K, 10K, 21K, and a 500-m for the Kids.

As a RunRio event, the registration will tap the technology of online registration through Unilab Active Health or from RunRio.com from June 27 to July 31, 2011. In-store registration will also be available using the first iPad automated registration in the Philippines from the following stores from June 27 to July 31, 2011:
