10 10.10.10

10101010, no this is not a binary digit that represents a digital instruction, it is rather a race distance which I will be running, on the 10th of October, 2010 - the Takbo Para sa Ilog Pasig (Run for the Pasig River).

Last year, me and some of officemates, where most of them are first-time runners, also joined the 2009 Pasig River Run which garnered around 22,000 runners. This time around, the event, the Largest Eco-Footrace in the World, through the Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP) Foundation aims to attract more than 110,000 runners and beat the current World Guinness record on the 1988 Bay to Breakers race held in San Francisco, USA.

This year's event will be unique in such a way that each of the race categories' starting line will be from different places across the Metro, and all converging to one finish line at the SM Mall of Asia. The race director who was tasked for this big event is x-Tribe's Mr. Eric Imperio, who also sought for the hand of two more race organizers to handle the different race distance categories -- Thumbie Remigio of the UP Mountaineers, and Coach Rio Dela Cruz of RunRio. Watch the following videos from the organizers themselves to know more about each of the event category.

3k - Mall of Asia (MOA)

5k - Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP)
10k - Ayala Avenue

21k (Ceremonial run, for AFP and PNP) - SM Marikina

To register for the event, visit 10.10.10 Run for Pasig River website.

  1. i hope we can beat the record, but still its a big number dude. 10000 is hard to handle. wag sana magkagulo

  2. I hope this does not have the nudity as with the Bay to Breakers race. lol. I wish you the best and go for it. I have been away from blogging for a while. I am back now. Thanks for sharing the vids, though my wife had to translate. How kind of her. lol. Have a good one man.

  3. @James, I think the 80,000 runners will come from the Schools and Universities around the metro.

@Sir Kenley, woww.. have you kept a vid of the Bay to Breakers race?
haha, your wife is really kind, she translated all those videos? :D

  4. hmmm, i think madami mag join here. For instance in one company, they requested at least 3000 employee to run on this event.(one of my friend kasi asking me about this run; kasi they are requested daw to join, hehe) Kami din required to join here, but surely I will join on this event. ^-^

  5. Baka magkagulo.. pero just in case, sa 10K kami, Ayala :)

  6. Oo nga, hindi kaya magkagulo 'yan? Kelangan diyan may sasakyan for the baggage, or else..

  7. @Jhuvy, absolutely, marami tlaga magjo-join. And they're doing it for two things: 1) break a Guinness record; 2) Raise a great amound of fund for the Pasig river rehabilitation. Sana lang soon makita na natin yung buhay na daloy ng tubig sa ilog Pasig.

  8. @CaptainRunner, I'm also wondering pano magkakasya ang more than 120,000 people sa MOA grounds, well malaki nga talaga ang MOA, Pero sa pagpasok sa finish line mismo, baka dun magsiksikan ang mga runners.

@MinnieRunner, like some of the other races that I joined, I plan not to bring any things here except for my race kit and hydration.

See all of you there, will be running 10K as well ;)

  9. so happy a lot responded to this post :) THanks Pedo! and a lot are joining the race! :)
