The local government of Marikina City, headed by Mayor Del Guzman and the Rotary Club of Marikina, is inviting everyone to join and register on the upcoming "Takbo Para sa Marikina Watershed Del Run 3". The race is a fund-raising activity for the Marikina Watershed Green Foundation for the continuous re-greening and reforestation of Marikina Watershed that serves as the City's primary defense against the rain waters coming from the Sierra Madre mountain range.

The Marikina Watershed located at Sitio Kayrupa (Wawa), Brgy. San Rafael, Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal is continuously being re-forested with 7,000 varieties of trees such as Dao, Narra, and Molave on a 20-hectares land area. While another 200-hectares allocated by the DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) was already planted with 7,000 saplings of Robusta Coffee and 950 tree varieties. Del Guzman is also calling the attention of neighborhood Cities to refrain from throwing garbages along the waterlines to avoid flooding.

- Mayor Del Guzman.
