Heart or Mind

Image from Mitchebie
Why is getting near you,
a hard thing for me to do?
Being near you, only makes me blue,
that makes my heart, turning from you!

Why couldn't the heart, tell what is true,
if I really am, the right one for you?
Emotions that aren't sure,
keeps the feelings from being pure!

Why can't I, control the intensity,
of the love, that shouldn't be?
Your appeal is always with me,
that makes the heart, in good melody!

Why is man's inspiration,
has a lot of limitation?
Minds without enough reason,
lets the heart, rule the emotion!

Don't Worry, Just Run Happy

Last Sunday, May 22, 2011 marked the first year anniversary of my Full Marathon debut at the TBR Dream Marathon 2010. As I went back to the memory lane of that fateful day, I've come to realize that nothing much has changed, or rather, nothing much has improved in me. That was my first Marathon and it still is up to this very moment. What happened? I lost focus as I may say!

Mel and Jay
At the same time, last Sunday was also my first race under the summer heat and my first 10k also for this year. Yes, I know a lot of runners have already soaked and added more tan-lines, I did too, but not with running. My ultra-sensitive skin got burned during the trekking at Mt. Cabuyao and Mt. Sto. Tomas in Baguio last April, and during my family's three days getaway to Bohol last April. I really did escaped from the Metro's summer heat. My races and most of my run-trainings last April was treaded in Baguio where I also tried to find a re-route from the inner doodlings of my mortality - whatever it is!

Ok, going back to last Sunday (of April, no, just this previous Sunday of May - the 22nd), after more than a month of not having stepped at the BGC routes and having not greeted the sun's smiling face, there I'm back again on a road race for the Brooks Run Happy. Compared to May 22 of 2010, I was more than out of shape, out of fitness, out of preparation and training. A few nights before this race, I was "relaxingly worried" that my body might collapse before arriving at the finish line due to lack of runs, heat, and strength trainings. Add to it that I've been feeling some sudden chest pains for about three (3) weeks already. What's more funny is I even thought that I am registered to run a 15km distance that I almost got angry when I saw that my race bib was only for 10K. When I checked my registration form still attached to the race kit, I saw my own penmanship and check mark on the '10K' distance category. Mind boggling!

Jay with Team Logan, reminiscing their TBR experience
So just before we headed to the starting line, I decided to leave my hydration belt and just gulped 230ml from one bottle of my hydration. Anyway, my body has been trained for dehydration for the past few days as I kept forgetting to drink ample amount of water. I kept myself loaded though with alcoholic-calories! Bad runner ain't I?

In contrast, meeting some of my loyal fans - I mean friends during races makes me feel glad and renewed. The presence of Jay - Leo's cousin, Leo - who's been my constant running-buddy ever since I came back to running, Mish (together with her family) - who kept on inspiring me with her flattering greetings, and uhmm... nobody else around, just three of them this time! At the starting line, we've also met Team Logan (Craig, Justin, and Michelle) who's been my constant chatmates at every starting lines since the Eye Run 'coz I Care. I was also surprised to see Ms. Marcia Cruz of HDI Network (Bodivance) who braved her first 10K - nice meeting you again and congratulations for a strong finish, 1:11 - amazing for a first.

At the race proper, the 15K runners should have been already out from the corral at 5:30AM, unfortunately, for some reasons (as I heard the hydration stations have not yet been... stationed), they were released at around 5:50AM I think. And we, 10K runners were released after more than 8 minutes from the 15K runners' gun-time. Talk about racing under the heat. The yellow race singlet also stood out and added more intensity to the sun's yellow rays. As for the hydration, well, I'm really thankful that I got used to dehydration (but hey, this is not advisable) as I get to finish without needing much cold water or sports drink. I also cannot gulp much water since water feels heavier on the tummy, so I only gargled some to release my sticky-yucky-saliva.

Lack of marshals, kilometer markers, hydration, freebies -- I wasn't bothered much with the lack of these things. Maybe because my last two (2) races which were held in Baguio was also as simple as this one. I even remember all my first few races, the runners were not as demanding as today for these tidbits and perks. As long as we finish the race in good condition, it is already a great race. We would even expect that there will be "fatalities" during the race (lol) - such as limping towards the finish line, DNF (did not finish) for reasons of injury or quitting in the middle of the race, and etc. Self-sufficient - that's how I could describe the runners of before (sigh, my age is showing!). Anyway, there were still ample amount of not-so-cold Pocari Sweat for the runners at the finish line; loot bags with Nova biscuit and hygienix alcohol; and other sponsor booths which I have no longer get to visit. Every race is unique at its own, just like every individual runner is. I guess we need to learn that not all races are Rio-standard races. Also, expecting too much only breeds disappointments - true in every essence of life (even with love life, ask Papa Jack!).

Phenomenal friends from ARC Phils. - it's not just a Running store, it's a Runner's circle
In contrast, high points for Brooks for the medal, singlet, the registration fee, the 'Run Happy' advocacy, and for staging this event as fund-raiser for the Quezon Province Livelihood Bldg. Project under the myShelter Foundation hood.

Happy medals for everyone
Just before going home, we stayed for a while to partake with the free taho (3 cups of taho is equivalent to 1 cup of gatorade, just kidding!), witness (and hoping to be lucky) the raffling of Brooks shoes, and other more items from the different sponsors. Going home, me, Leo, and Sir Rene were still happy for another good run.

And oh, I also want to commend one of my previous 'ex' whom I met at the finish line (ex-officemate, silly you!) - Joyce Prestoza, and Rafael Patag - one of the Site Support of our office. So really glad whenever I see some friends or colleagues who have taken up running as one of their joyous habits.

Joy's first run with her friends.

Mizuno Infinity Run 2011

Mizuno Infinity Run: Conquer the Never-ending Challenge:

"Can you beat your time?"
"Can you beat your pace?"

This 2011, 5000 runners are expected to go up against their biggest challenge, the challenge of beating themselves.

True to its “Never Settle” philosophy, the Mizuno Infinity Run introduced an idea of a time trial when it started the “Beat Your Own Time” concept in 2009. In 2011 it has returned with a greater challenge for all runners out there. Mizuno shall have its first 21K course, replacing the 15K distance. This seeks to answer the runners’ demand for a longer, and a more challenging distance.

Mizuno Infinity Run 2011 presents the “Beat Your Own Pace” wherein distance shifters (from a lower to a higher distance) who are able to beat their previous race’s pace will be rewarded with a Mizuno Prestige Card. For same distance runners, they are also given the chance to win a medal if they are able to beat their own pace from the previous year.

Distance and Registration Fees:

21k - Php 800.00
10k - Php 750.00
5k - Php 600.00

Discounts:
Php 100.00 off of registration fees upon purchase of any shoes from the 2011 Running collection.
Php 50.00 off for Infinity Run 2010 participants upon registration.

Registration sites at all Mizuno branches, or online via Shopinas.com.

Astoria Vacation and Leisure Club

When I was given a ticket for the Pacquiao-Margarito fight shown at the Metrobar November last year, a "raffle" coupon of some sort was given to all the guests. Like the rest of the Customers who will be watching the said event, I also filled-up one raffle coupon. The prize at stake were "3 days and 2 nights complimentary hotel accommodation" or a "buffet dinner for two". One thing I noticed though on the raffle coupon was that there was no indication of a Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) permit number or any registration of sort. And since it was not only me who was filling-up the raffle coupon, I never gave enough attention to it and just thought that the raffle will be held inside the bar, either before or after watching the Pacquiao-Margarito fight -- which did not happen.

Then a week after the said event, I already forgot about the raffle until somebody from Club Astoria Plaza called me, informing me that I won a complimentary gift certificate accommodation from Astoria Vacation and Leisure Club Inc. Aside from this, the caller told me that I am also entitled for a buffet dinner for two (2) at Cafe Astoria. What a great excitement! The dinner will be served prior to claiming my prize, and afterwhich, there will be a short presentation about Club Astoria itself and the accommodation package that I won. I became skeptic with the answer so I asked the caller if there's a catch with that presentation, then he assured me that I have no obligation of any sort to "buy-out" any of the things that they're going to present or offer. Although still doubting, my excitement about the "3D2N free accommodation" took me over, so I gave it a nod and booked the appointment date of claiming the gift certificate.

A few days before the scheduled appointment with Club Astoria, I was able to grasp some information from one of my officemate who was also previously offered the same thing. My officemate told me that it was a holiday vacation ownership, or a timeshare from Club Astoria and its affiliates spanning worldwide. Although, she rejected the offer since the membership that was offered to her was beyond her budget during that time. Upon knowing her story, I realized that the "raffle" that was held was not really legit, but might just be a strategy to gather information about people whom they could contact and offer whatever their product or service is. So I guess I'm not the only one who "won" the said 3D/2N free accommodation.

Cutting the story short, right after the complimentary dinner at Club Astoria in Ortigas held last November 25, 2010 at around 8:30 PM, it was time for them to feed us with their promotional speeches and presentation. The Agent/Consultant - Bob, was friendly and accommodating, and also skillful in his field of persuasion. I was "detained" - figuratively speaking - for a few hours while listening and brainstorming with the consultant about the holiday ownership. The member benefits, ammenities, and advantage of owning a holiday timeshare was explained, and we were also showed how the suites looks like. It was a very comfy and cozy two bedroom, condo-type unit of family suite that can accomodate up to six (6) person.

I rejected the membership offer as true to my officemate's testimonial, the cost was way beyond my budget even if the membership dues are to be paid in 48 installment months. The agent presented to me four (4) membership options, differing on the suite-type, the number of rooms available per unit, and the number of person the unit can accommodate. The basic member-benefits for any of those four membership type includes: thirty (30) years membership to Club Astoria; 1 week accommodation per year to any of it's affiliate hotels/vacation clubs local and worldwide; and membership to Resort Condominiums International (RCI) - your ticket to worldwide special holiday/vacation discounts exclusive only to members.

The fourth membership type that was offered was the one that appealed to me the most since it costs around approximately 70% lower than the first three. Balancing the future costs of hotel accommodation, given that I already have my own family and a child (or let's say I'll have two kids already by the time that we can already enjoy the membership benefits at Club Astoria), for the span of thirty (30) membership years, Club Astoria's holiday vacation ownership will be a thrift investment for future get-aways - unless me and my wife (and kids) could agree to settle for simple back-packing trips.

Although, I admit that part of the decision that made me grab their final offer was also due to the high-pressure environment that has built-up already during the more than four (4) hours of time that I gave to entertain their presentation and persuasions. Really, they wouldn't give me time to think about it even for one more day, claiming that they no longer give chance to anyone once the presentation is over and after we stepped out of Club Astoria's building, duh! I have other ramblings about their way of selling, marketing, presenting, or whatever they could call it. But for now, I'll hold it back as I've seen that the business is legit - only their ethics in doing the business isn't acceptable.

About the complimentary gift certificate, we enjoyed it during our family's Panglao Island Bohol Adventure last April 16 - 18, 2011 at the Bohol Beach Club (Club Astoria's affiliate hotel).

VFF Sprint - A Quick Review

After the product and media launch of BarefootWear Inc’s Vibram FiveFingers footwear last September 22, 2010, I have been alternately using the VFF Sprint between running (road run, vertical run, beach run), gym, casual walks, swimming, wall climbing, - and also apartment wall climbing (when I changed our ceiling lamp).

VFF Sprint
The farthest distance that I was able to run with my VFF sprint was a 21 kilometer steady run last December 2010, following the route from V.Luna to UP Diliman via Teacher's Village and C.P. Garcia, then to Lagro, Fairview via Commonwealth Ave. After this craze run, it only took me around three days before my calves completely recovered as compared to almost a week during the first few days of running on it and getting used to barefoot running with VFF.

Gray and Pink VFF (both available for Women size only)
Wearing a VFF compared to wearing a rubber shoe or running shoe on the gym during weight lifting sessions and leg-strength trainings also feels much better. I could move with much freedom, and I could also stretch my legs and feet much freely during the cool-down or stretching sessions.

Although I haven't tried yet the VFF sprint on trekking or mountaineering, it is still much better wearing a VFF shoe compared to trekking in pure naked-barefoot. Feeling the pebbles and small stones, as well as the ground's temperature doesn't really hurt that much, instead it feels therapeutic on the feet (free foot massage).

First VFF Sprint's run at Thunderbird Resort's Ondoy No More
As for wall climbing, well obviously, the toes of the VFF are big help to easily maneuver between each climbing holds (the colorful wall climbing component where we hold on to or step through).

Climbing the Wall obstacle during the Men's
Health Urbanathlon and Festival 2010
At the 1st aNR 5th Sunday Run - sprinting on a VFF sprint
Since the VFF sprint doesn't cover much of the upper part of the feet, sands and small pebbles could easily get inside.

Beach side running on VFF Sprint
The long-term beauty that I could see for the VFF sprint is that, when the time comes that the sole have already worn out and can no longer be used for road running, it will still be very useful indoors such as when you are in a yoga class, weight lifting, martial arts class, and etc. All in all, the Vibram FiveFingers Sprint is a superb choice for an almost all-around activity, both indoors and outdoors.

End Hunger - Walk The World

Last year, the End Hunger 2010 - Walk the World Philippines was held at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Brought to us by Unilever, TNT, and World Food Program (WFP), on May 29, 2011, thousands of people around the globe will again walk and raise awareness for the hungry children in some of the poorest Countries around the world.

Although I was registered for the last year's event, I wasn't able to attend due to unavoidable circumstances. And for this year, a schedule conflict got in the way, but I am inviting everyone for this year's another step towards ending hunger. Miss KC Concepcion - WFP's Ambassadress Against Hunger will also be present for the event (sigh! will miss her again!).
WFP and its partners are passionate about taking action on this important issue and believe that everyone can help by joining Walk the World Pilipinas as a step towards ending hunger.

WHERE: SM Mall of Asia, IMAX Parking lot
WHEN: May 29, 2011, Sunday, 5:00-10:00AM

This year’s Walk the World, which is set to be bigger than the previous years, is open to walkers and runners who are passionate about fighting hunger. In addition to the traditional 2-km walk, there will be a 5-km run for enthusiasts, both male and female, and a competitive 10-km group run. Proceeds from the event will support approximately 80,000 school children in the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.

Join Walk the World Pilipinas today – together we can end hunger.

It costs WFP just 10 pesos to provide a nutritious meal to a child at school. School feeding programmes also give parents an extra incentive to keep their children in school, and help to lay a healthy foundation for a better future for the young.

If you can’t join the walk in person, you can still get involved at http://wfp.org/walktheworld
with photos, videos and donations.

Fast 5 - Movie Review

Last May 4, 2011 - I was able to watch a movie screening of the "Fast and the Furious 5: Rio Heist" during the TeleServ's Night-Out with the Bloggers event. Cinema 4 movie house of Gateway was packed with, well, obviously Bloggers. Familiar faces and even some of my runner-blogger mates were also present to check the speed of the cars tearing the Cinema screen.

The movie was full not just with action, but also some humor and wit that made us stretch our facial muscles as we laugh. The environment was so comfortable, I almost feel like we are but one family inside the Cinema. We are indeed - Bloggers alike!

So, just a quick review without going much into deeper details as I might be spoiling the story to those who have not yet seen the movie.

Stars:
Paul Walker as Brian O'Conner
Vin Diesel as Dominic "Dom" Toretto
Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto
Gal Gadot as Gisele Harabo
Dwayne Johnson as Marshal Luke Hobbs
Elsa Pataky as Elena Neves
Joaquim de Almeida as Hernan Reyes
Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Tego Calderon, Matt Schulze, Don Omar

Personal Rating: 9 out of 10

Negative:
During the car chase between the Cops, Reyes, and the "Team Rio", while Dom and O'Conner are pulling the bank vault from behind their car, I couldn't imagine how they managed to speed off and maneuver the car in such a high-speed and heavily loaded chase. My brain just keeps on telling me under the Physics law (my brain got refreshed about Physics from this movie), the vault should've already pulled them off the road and there's no way that they could escape that far with that load. Well that's a movie after all!

Positive:
Aside from the action, very nice cars, effects, and the sexy presence of the Characters of Gal Gadot and Elsa Pataky, the teamwork and their love and valuing for family still touched me and made me thought however bad-ass a human can get, we still cannot judge the entirety of their character.

For a better read and review about this movie, I highly recommend the following sites:

  2. Screenrant
  3. Screen Crave

Spring Cleaning Day

Be part of the first public and private initiative for cleaning and sanitation, and join the Department of Health, Lysol and partner organizations as they celebrate Philippine Spring Cleaning Day on May 11, 2011. Read the following Press Release (received through e-mail from GeiserMaclang Marketing Communications Inc.) for details:

Five cities in Metro Manila will demonstrate how the country can save lives, time, and money, as they join the first-ever “Philippine Spring Cleaning Day (PSCD).”

In its goal to push for cleaning and sanitation as one of the most effective ways to lower the country's disease burden, representatives from the Department of Health (DoH), UP-National Institutes of Health (UP-NIH), Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of the Philippines (PIDSP), Reckitt Benckiser, Lysol, and several local government units are calling for better sanitation through the institution of the first Philippine Spring Cleaning Day.

On May 11, there will be a simultaneous cleanup across five cities, namely Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Manila, and Pasay.

“We hope to educate as well as to encourage the habit of cleaning and disinfecting of Filipino homes through this annual event,” says Marichu Gozun, Senior Brand Manager of Lysol.

According to a joint study commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), at least 20 million Filipinos are exposed to poor sanitation. This means that one-fourth of the Philippine population has poor hygiene practices, do not have the benefit of an accessible and safe toilet, or do not dispose of human waste properly. The fact that less than half of Filipinos wash their hands after using the bathroom is a very telling statistic that speaks of the country's unfortunate attitudes towards cleaning and sanitation.

Being one with the PSCD's advocacy to educate Filipinos about the significance of cleaning and disinfecting, DoH Environmental Health Chief Dr. Rodolfo Albornoz says that families should be mindful of the harmful effects of poor sanitation not only on their health but also on other aspects of their lives.

For instance, poor sanitation affects productivity. “The rhinovirus–the virus responsible for approximately 50 percent of the cases of flu and the common cold in both adults and children–causes Filipinos to lose an average of eight school or work days a year,” shares Dr. Albornoz. Consequently, poor sanitation also results in increased economic losses.

The campaign's concentration on household cleaning is highly significant because proponents of the PSCD believe that even the home, which is supposed to be every family's place of refuge, can be unsafe. They note that bacteria dwell on everyday things in the home that are taken for granted. “What people do not know is that they are more likely to get sick from germs and viruses in their own homes than in any other place,” says PIDSP President Dr. Lester Deniega.

UP-NIH Executive Director Dr. Lulu Bravo agrees. “We invite everyone to take part in this initiative and join the fight against diseases,” ends Dr. Bravo.

Indeed, intensified cleaning and disinfection will go a long way towards helping the country save time and money, reduce economic costs, and increase productivity as well as people’s overall health and productivity.

Birth Certificate Correction Gone Wrong

Many people who were born during the time when there was only pen and typewriter to jot our records have had problems with their identities from their government documents, such as the birth certificate. This ranges from mis-spelled entries to incorrectly written entries (such as gender - a born baby boy was identified on the document as a female, or vice versa), and etc.

You see, our ancestors mostly came from other nationalities as a result of Colonial occupations in our Country way back few hundred years ago. So most of the Filipinos still carry their Spanish origins of family names. But due to our naturally hard-tongue pronunciations (or is it just me?), how we pronounce some "foreign" words may not be spelled correctly, even if we spell the word letter-by-letter. I could even remember some of my cousins way back in our province spelled "apple" letter-by-letter as something like: "eh na may bontot, pe, pe, el, eh na pa-ekot"; for a "cat", it was voice-spelled as "se na paekot, eh na may bontot, te"; for the "dog", it was spelled as "de, oh, dzi na walang toldok"! It all makes sense though, in any way! Now could you follow this kind of spelling quiz bee?

With this dilemma, our own clan may have been one of the great victims of this lingual catastrophe. Most of us have differing spelling of family names, and until now, we don't even know who's family name's spelling is correct, and who's spelling will be followed. For me, the spelling that I have been used to is the most beautifully spelled family name, for another relative, their own spelling is the most alluring, for my Cousin, his spelling is the most attractive, and to another Uncle, the sound of how his family name is pronounced and spelled is the most "bagay" of all.

During my stay in Masbate way back 1991 - 1994, I remember seeing a land title from one of our great-great grandfather bearing a family name of "Bedansaga". Another document from the same generation of relatives bore a family name of "Vedarozaga". Then different family name spellings sprouted on to the next generations such as the "Vedarosaga" and "Vidarozaga". So originally, there were only four (4) variations of our family name.

Then just a few weeks ago, it seems that it has become more clear as to where and how these mis-haps came about.

Last year (Oct, 2010), I was finally able to apply for a passport (thanks to a good friend who accompanied me). But as expected, due to contradicting spelling of my family name in my birth certificate against to all my other documents, the passport issuance was put on hold, and I was advised to have those corrected from the Municipal Civil Registry Office (MCRO) of Masbate. Yes, that's the province where my humanity was registered.

So in short, with all the documents prepared and submitted for the petition of correction of entry from my Birth Certificate, I was confident that soon, within 3 months in time, me and my birth certificate will be fused into one after almost 30 years of "denying each other". So when I received the documents from MCRO last week (May 2, 2011), I knew I could already proceed to DFA to finally have my long-overdue passport. But when I get to read all the documents... I'll let you guess how I felt during that time with these findings:
  1. Action Taken by CRG (Verification page) – Verified family name entry became: "V_darozaga"
  2. Civil Registration Certificate – Corrected family name on the annotation: "Verarozaga"
  3. Decision on Petition – Corrected family name as indicated on the remarks: "Vedarozaraga"

Although our whole family's been used to hearing and reading different variations of our family name, this one became so big deal to me since it is a record of our legal document. Much worst is that these mistakes have become "legal" in the sense that the mistakes all originated from the Government office who keeps our records. The documents were even verified and signed by the Municipal Registrar. How was the verification done? That I don't know!

Now to all my relatives out there, if ever one of us get to meet someone bearing these new spelling of family name, don't be surprised anymore!

Oh, come to think of it, guess I can marry three other Women in a legal way without annulling my previous marriage! LOL!

Running On Empty - Book Review

If you’re well into the circulation of famous Marathoners and elite endurance Athletes, you might have heard of Marshall Ulrich, author of "Running on Empty – An Ultramarathoner’s Story of Love, Loss, and a Record-setting Run Across America", as the runner who purposely made his toes pulled-out. Yes, he just did that. Insane? Perhaps! But experts say that one of the quandaries that Ultrarunners face, such as Ulrich, are their toes. Battered toenails, blood pools beneath the nails which can cause pressure and pain, turns black and blue from friction and wear, fungal infections take roots in the nail beds.

But beyond toenails pulling, Marshall Ulrich is an ultrarunner like no other. I don't have any idea about the locations of his records, but all I could say, is he have such will and endurance that not many of the Runners has. He completed all six hundred-mile trail races in just one season; he champed the Badwater-146 four times; current record holder for the summit of Mt. Whitney; had done the Pike Peak Quad twice; ran across Colorado thrice; did the Leadville Trail 100 and the Pike Peak Marathon within one weekend; accomplished all nine Eco-Challenges; did the Badwater solo and without any aid, clambered the peak of Mt. Everest and other top seven summits on first attempts. His greatest feat of United States cross-country run from San Francisco to New York, and he conceded the struggles and regrets he had through his running years with his personal life.

An individual who went the course of a lot when he witnessed his first love suffered and lost, scared of facing his daughter with anguish, instead, he chose to run the other way to escape his reality. Love lost, and loved again, though because the misery and pain was never shared, another love was lost to a divorce. Despite of having three wonderful children, still, he kept on going, inflicting more challenges, reaching his personal dreams, breaking his physical barrier. Until he had found his new love.

Ultra Running, Ultra preparation, Ultra efforts!
His trauma of losing a loved one and nothing he could do was still there. When he lost his father and father-in-law to cancer and his friends within two months, the old role of strong facade happened again and yet again, running became his comfort zone. By the time his beloved wife, Heather, confronted him with the big "why?", why they have to go through the impending transcontinental run and another year of it, finally he told the truth and finally, she understood him and became one of his pillar of strength in his leg-breaking voyage.

Running on Empty is a sneak peak of the life of an Ultrarunner and what it will take to accomplish such feat. Clearly, family relationships often suffers because of times they are away from home, the solitaries and the stubborn self-reliance could take their toll, but if everything were open and priorities were the people you love, perhaps the curse of personal predicaments might be eluded (hmmnn... right on through my bossom!).

I have not yet finished reading the entirety of the book, but from the few pages that I came across, I could say that I admire his perseverance in his every endeavor - being afraid but still had the courage to face his faults and fears at the end. I would definitely recommend this book to all running fanatics and even to not so much of a fan because not just it has tips, medical advices, mind and body preparation counsels to be able to endure the challenges, but there are also a lot of lessons to be learned from the Author's personal experiences.
